Jessie Arms Botke was born in Chicago in 1883. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, and in 1911 Jessie moved to New York to pursue her creative career.
There she worked in the field of interior design, and also created tapestries and murals.
She was once sent to paint at the Bronx Zoo, where she was fascinated by peacocks. Since then, drawing birds has become her specialty.
After many years of work in Paris and Holland, Jesse settled on a farm in southern California, where she worked until her death in 1971.
