& nbsp & nbsp Margaret Natalie Smith was born on December 28, 1934 in the suburbs of London. Her father was a professor at Oxford University, so she studied there. Her stage debut took place at the university, and her first professional role in the theater went to 1952. In 1959, she joined the troupe of the Old Vic Theater, specializing in Shakespearean repertoire.
& nbsp & nbspIn the cinema, Maggie Smith plays mainly the roles of strict and characteristic characters, such as Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter films. She was nominated for an Academy Award multiple times and received it in 1969 and 1978. She also has seven BAFTA awards (four for Best Lead, one for Best Supporting Actor, two for special) and three Emmy Awards. In 1989, Meggie Smith received the right to add the honorary title of lady to her name (the female equivalent of the noble title sir).
