Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122-1204) married Louis VII, soon after becoming Queen of France. Eleanor was strong and strong-willed. During the Second Crusade, Eleanor and her company of 300 women joined the Crusade. Her ladies, dressed in armor, caused a real commotion, one of the eyewitnesses wrote that Eleanor dressed her ladies as Amazons and went bare-breasted and pregnant. Some time later, Eleanor and Louis divorced, and Eleanor married King Henry II of England. The former Queen of France soon became Queen of England. At the end of her life, Eleanor went to the Abbey of Fontevraud, and after her death she was buried in the abbey, next to her second husband Henry II and her son Richard the Lionheart.
