Danaida chrysippus This "cousin" of the well-known Danaida monarch butterfly is distributed throughout Asia and Africa. Both belong to the Danaida subfamily and have the same bright orange coloration that repels predators. Their larvae feed on milkweed, due to which the protective mechanism of these butterflies is triggered, signaling to insectivores about their imaginary poisonousness. The appearance of Danaids is copied by other butterflies and spread their beautiful color to many species
