Scotland. Abbotsford House is the estate of the famous writer Walter Scott, located on the River Tweed near the town of Melrose. Once an abandoned farm, Walter Scott transformed this place into a monumental castle with a lush garden and shady groves. Until 2004, the castle was under the patronage of the Scott family. In 2007, the Abbotsford Trus charitable foundation began to restore and equip it for tourists. The Walter Scott Museum is currently open at Abbotsford House.
