Jan van Haasteren
Fun illustrations by a Dutch artist, where everything happens at once - perfect puzzles.
Jan Van Haasteren, legendary cartoonist and comic book creator, was born on February 24, 1936 in Holland. He began to draw from early childhood. After the Second World War, he entered to study as a decorator, and later graduated from the Academy of Arts in Rotterdam. 2014 marked the 30th anniversary of Jan Van Haasteren's collaboration with jigsaw puzzle company Jumbo. Over the entire period of cooperation, Jan has created over a hundred puzzles. A kind of author's autograph is a shark fin, which is always interesting to look for in a picture.Another distinguishing features are images of hands and eyes hidden in different parts of the puzzle, an image of St. Nicholas with his accompanying Black Peter and a portrait of the artist himself. For his work, Jan was awarded several times, and in 2013 he was promoted to the Knights of the Order of Orange-Nassau (Netherlands). In his serious age, Jan Van Haasteren still draws an average of three complete jigsaw puzzles a year for Jumbo. Due to the high demand for puzzles with his work, a studio (Studio JvH) was opened in 2013, which, in addition to Ian himself, included Rob Derks and Dick Heinz.
