Frans Pourbus II
Frans Pourbus the Younger (Dutch. Frans Pourbus (II) (1569, Antwerp - 1622, Paris) - South Netherlandish (Flemish) artist. Son of Frans Purbus the Elder, grandson of Peter Pourbus. The most famous representative of this artistic dynasty. Frans the Younger studied painting with his father. In 1591 he was admitted to the guild of St. Luke in Antwerp. Then Purbus went through Brussels to Italy, entered there as a court painter of the Duke of Mantua. Finally, he reached Paris, where his death he worked at the court of Henry of Navarre. Yielding to his father in warmth of color and richness of the brush, he nevertheless expressed himself as a very skillful master, and also - in the portrait genre.
