Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) - a Buddhist temple 13 kilometers from the city of Chiang Rai in northern Thailand - a very young structure! Its construction began only in 1998 according to the project of the architect Chalermchay Kasitpipat. He did not waste time on trifles, immediately conceived a project consisting of 9 buildings and calculated that it would take 90 years to complete it - no less! That is why he now works with five students, who at the same time trains so that they can complete the project after his death. They say that Chalermchai deliberately refused to use any sponsorship money - so that no one could dictate their terms to him. The architect collects money for the construction from the sale of his paintings and donations from thousands of tourists who come here every day.
