The work dates back to 1625-1635.
It is believed that the still life was painted by the famous Flemish painter Frans Snyders, and the figures of people belong to the brush of Cornelis de Vos.
The canvas is kept in the Norton Simon Museum (Pasadena, Los Angeles, USA). Before being part of the collection of industrialist and philanthropist Norton Simon, this painting was one of four paintings by Snyders that adorned the grand dining room of the Dukes of Newcastle, Nottinghamshire.
