The doll house of Petronella Ortman (created in 1686-1705) is an example of a miniature of the 17th century, which has survived to this day almost in its original form. Made in 1/9 scale. It is kept in the Reichsmuseum (Amsterdam) and is considered the first dollhouse. Petronella Ortman was the wife of a wealthy Dutch silk merchant. Her miniature house was an accurate representation of their own mansion and at that time was worth no less than the present. Its interiors, furniture, porcelain and other items were created by famous artists, cabinetmakers and craftsmen from the same materials from which the originals were made. This doll house has a special value because gives an opportunity to see the interior of the house of a wealthy merchant family of the 17th century.
