Was born in Kiev in 1972. Graduated from art school in 1989. The plots of the paintings are based on the old outgoing Kiev: the era of walk-through yards, sheds, communal kitchens, Podolsk streets. Being a native of Podol, Dmitry Kashtanov chooses the old Podol as his favorite motive for his works. Nostalgia and hope are full of his paintings. All of the master's works are very symbolic. There are pigeons, and a yellow autumn leaf, and an old gramophone with a violin forgotten by someone, and a temple, now surrounded by thistles, which once called parishioners into its walls. Time ... The artist shows us inexorable time. A time that cannot be stopped, that cannot be turned back, that mercilessly changes cities and destinies. But through the transparent air of a uniquely lyrical and sophisticated plot, we see hope, hope for the future ...
