Kaifeng is one of the seven historical capitals of China. It is sometimes called the "Capital of the Seven Dynasties". Since the reign of the Northern Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), Kaifeng has been the political, economic and cultural center of China.
Four main channels intersected in it. At this time, the city was surrounded by three rings of walls, the population totaled approximately 600-700 thousand people, becoming, possibly, from 1013 to 1127, the most populated city in the world.

Here we see that large ships are arriving along the river, and they are literally pushed by the sides while mooring. By the posture, one can understand which of them have just arrived and are not unloaded with the goods, but who are empty and ready for loading.
It is interesting to observe the dynamics of the development of the plot. From a sleeping country landscape, a transition is made to a waking up business morning. Tables in street cafes are still empty, awnings and some kind of poles with flags are just being raised. Unloading is in progress, shops are opening, they are starting to feed breakfast. At the entrance to the seaside restaurant, two men are talking animatedly about something.
At the stern of the nearest ship, the process of preparing dinner is visible. Above and to the left - a sleeping man at the stern. Here you can see the complex structure of the rudder of the ship. The rudder is famous for being able to change the depth of the dive.
To the left, along the top edge of the scroll, is a paper store - "Wong's family paper store."
At the top of the scroll, barge haulers pull a long rope, dressed in trousers, and traditional wide-brimmed straw hats. At the other end of the towing line, a vessel in which a man in dark clothing controls the crew, while he actively gestures.

At the bottom of the scroll, you can see a boat where the hostess washes and dries clothes.
