In honor of the victory of Prince Pozharsky in 1612 over the Polish-Lithuanian invaders in 1625, a Cathedral was built, consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
The architect is unknown.
In 1936 the Kazan Cathedral was dismantled. A pavilion was built in its place.
