The Bahamas is a heavenly place that attracts tourists from all over the world with its beaches, unforgettable views, nature, romantic sunsets, and also the most beautiful place for diving. But one place here is particularly unique, it is the Pink Sands Beach, which is located on Harbor Island (Bahamas).
Harbor Island itself is small, about 5 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide, but it is known all over the world thanks to its famous beach, which attracts all tourists and celebrities from all over the world with its color. And it is not surprising because the pink beach is an amazing and rare phenomenon. It is called "Pink Sands Beach" but the locals call it "Briland", although there is another name - "the Nantucket of the Caribbean". Forbes magazine even called Pink Sands Beach "the most beautiful beach in the world."
The beaches stretch for 5 kilometers along the coast of Harbor Island. The pink color of the sand is given by small, crushed grains of Foraminifera shells, these are unicellular organisms that live on the bottom of reefs, under rocks and in caves of the coastal ocean floor, the shell of which is painted in bright pink or red tones. Also, the red color of the sand is given by corals, which have a red color off the coast. As a result of the action of storms and coastal waves, Foraminifera shells and parts of the coral are washed ashore, where they break into small caves, which mix with the sand, giving the Pink Sands Beach such an unusual pinkish-red color.
