The Nikolo-Ugreshsky monastery, recently revived from ruins and desolation, impresses with its grandeur and well-being.
The monastery was founded in 1380 by Prince Dmitry Donskoy. According to legend, during the march to the Kulikovo field, the Russian army stopped here for a rest, during which the icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared to the prince, strengthening him with faith and hope for victory in the upcoming battle. Encouraged by this hope, the prince exclaimed: "This is my whole heart."
