Ross Castle is a castle located on the shores of Loch Lane in Killarney National Park.
This castle is known as the ancestral home of the O'Donahue clan, and also belonged to the famous Brown family. It was built at the end of the 15th century.
The castle building is a typical medieval building, it has thick stone walls, a main rectangular tower and several round towers located at the corners. Inside the castle, oak furniture dating from the 16th-17th centuries has been preserved.
The Irish consider Ross Castle to be a symbol of the struggle for independence.
