Fortress Hardegg, located in the Austrian city of Hardegg, was first mentioned in documents from 1145. At that time it belonged to the Earls of Hardegg, and in 1499 the Earls of Habsburg became its owners. Currently, the Hardegg Fortress belongs to private owners.
A powerful fortress of gray stone with towers, a palace, a chapel, located on a granite rock in the middle of a national park, is considered one of the oldest fortresses in central Europe. It houses the Museum of Maximilian - Emperor of Mexico, the only museum of its kind in the world, as well as exhibitions, a rich collection of weapons and a romantic chapel where weddings are held. Tourists are attracted by the opportunity to inspect the fortifications, the halls of the fortress and its dungeons.
