Gerard Philip
The famous French theater and film actor Gerard Philipe, who gained overwhelming fame and popularity for a multinational film audience in the 50s of the twentieth century, was born in Cannes on December 4, 1922 in the family of a successful lawyer (died 1959).
In theater and cinema, Philip created a number of iconic images and became a symbol of the post-war generation of France. In one of the most famous and legendary films "Fanfan Tulip" the actor created a truly popular French image, combining heroism and lyrics, recklessness and prudence, audacity and gentleness.
The outstanding French actor Gerard Philippe, a handsome man and a favorite of women, who lived only 37 years, managed to do so much in cinema that it would have been more than enough for more than one retrospective.
“Gerard Philip left behind an image of spring and youth. One should be able to envy him with bitterness, ”wrote Louis Aragon about him.
