Surrounded by three forests on an area of eight thousand hectares, the Chantilly estate rises. The history of the estate begins in 1484, when the French commune of Chantilly passed into the possession of the eminent Montmorency family. The estate was named Château de Chantilly, where Chantilly is the Roman name for the man who first built a villa on this land.
In the seventeenth century, the estate changed owners - the Montmorency family was interrupted after the execution of its last representative. Subsequently, the Conde family settled here, which owned the estate until 1830.
Today the Chantilly estate is a museum. It houses an invaluable collection of handwritten and early printed books, a rare collection of porcelain items and much more.
