Once a year, the ruler had to appear here to perform rituals related to the worship of ancestral spirits.

Throughout history, the concept of family united the Chinese nation, filial piety came first - showing disrespect for the father was considered the greatest crime. Influenced by Confucian values, as well as the belief that ancestors require constant signs of attention, otherwise, they cause any inconvenience to the living, the cult of ancestor worship became one of the central religious practices of ancient China.
