One of the most popular attractions in Wernigerode is the beautiful castle built at the beginning of the 12th century by Count Adalbert. Initially, it served as a fortress, but over the past centuries it was rebuilt more than once, acquiring more and more refined features. In 1674, a major overhaul of the building began, thanks to which it turned into a beautiful baroque castle.

From 1862 to 1885, during the reign of Count Otto zu Stolberg, the palace became even more luxurious and began to be used for ceremonial receptions. From 1929 to 1980, the count's family lived in the castle. Currently, the palace houses a museum, which displays an exclusive collection of porcelain, reproductions of famous paintings of the 18th century, as well as furniture, dishes and various decorative elements.
