The medieval castle of Cervena Lhota, surrounded by a beautiful English park, it is located on a small rock in the middle of the lake and is accessed by the only narrow viaduct bridge. It is located about 100 kilometers south-west of Prague. It has an interesting history and, like any castle, shrouded in many secrets and legends.
Chervena Lhota Castle was built in the XIII-XIV centuries (the exact date is unknown). It was originally a Gothic fortress. In 1542 - 1555 the fortress was rebuilt into a Renaissance castle.
It was completed and rebuilt many times, but, to this day, the foundation and fragments of the walls of the fortress, which once stood on this place, have survived in it. Červen Lhota Castle includes a picturesque park and a chapel, which is an integral part of the castle. Among the most interesting exhibits is an antique vase, which is about 2500 years old, and a portrait of the ugliest woman in the world - Margarita of Tyrol.
This castle has absorbed the best features of the "knightly" Renaissance and is of interest not only among tourists, but also among filmmakers. Several Czech fairy-tale films were shot here. Cherven Lhoth in 1975. was chosen by the Soviet film director Boris Rytsarev for his fairy-tale film "The Princess and the Pea".
