Drachenburg Castle is the largest palace building dating back to the nineteenth century, located in Westphal, just over a hundred years old. Built in record time, destroyed during the First World War, sentenced to demolition, rising from the ruins and becoming a monument of architecture, the Drachenburg castle is now available for viewing to anyone who wants to get acquainted with the history of Germany. It is a kind of synthesis of a villa, a castle and a palace. There are many castles in the area of the Rhine River, but this one, standing on the top of the mountain of the same name in the Semigorye region, is quite young and fabulously beautiful, looks like a toy. The interior of the castle is fully consistent with its external splendor. Inside, Drachenburg is decorated with luxurious tapestries, paintings depicting ancient German legends and heroic sagas. The special pride of the castle are the rooms of the Nibelungs, where there are frescoes that are illustrations to the famous German poem Song of the Nibelungs. Drachenburg Castle in translation sounds like Dragon Castle.
