In addition to the artist's surname, Blaas, which does not change in different languages, he himself is called differently in different countries and in different sources: in his father's homeland, in Austria, Jurgen von Blaas, in Italy - Eugenio di Blaas, but more often - in the French manner by Eugene de Blaas.Eugene, while still studying, began to attract genre paintings from the life of ordinary Venetians.
The artist also became famous for portraits of women of beautiful Venetians, painted in the style of academic classicism. Since the beginning of the eighteenth century, Venice has been an indispensable stopover for tourists traveling across Europe. Guests of the city always returned home with views of the city or portraits of Venetians in national costumes.
