In the past, the Shenborn Hunting Castle, and nowadays - the Karpaty sanatorium is one of the most beautiful monuments in Ukraine. The palace has survived to this day in excellent condition. Being the most striking example of palace construction in Transcarpathia, this castle was built in 1890 as a country residence of the famous Austrian aristocrats - the Schönborn family.
The picturesque landscapes of these regions literally conquered the Schönborns at first sight, and it was decided to build a stone castle here in a romantic style. It is one of the most beautiful castles in Eastern Europe. Everything in this castle is permeated with some special, hidden meaning: there are 365 windows - according to the number of days in a year, 52 rooms - according to the number of weeks and 12 entrances - according to the number of months. The territory adjacent to the castle occupies about 20 hectares of land. Around it is a unique arboretum garden, laid out in the middle of the nineteenth century. In the garden, you can find very rare tree species - for example, Weymouth pine, Canadian spruce, boxwood, as well as pink beech, catalpa and even Japanese sakura grow here.
