Kivach is a state nature reserve, the central object of which is the waterfall of the same name. The reserve is located on the territory of the Kondopoga region of the Republic of Karelia. Kivach is one of the oldest reserves in Russia, created on June 11, 1931 at the USSR Academy of Sciences to protect the nature of the Russian north and solve practical problems of management. Occupies an area of 10 880 hectares.
Organized groups of tourists are allowed to visit the Kivach waterfall and other routes - entrance with tickets. The reserve studies the influence of the anthropogenic factor, including limited and controlled tourism, on natural complexes, and develops measures to mitigate this influence.
