Every country has its own architectural symbol. For France it is the Eiffel Tower, for the USA - the Statue of Liberty, for Egypt - the pyramids. At the mention of Russia, the slender towers and red walls of the Kremlin appear before the eyes of the majority. The visiting card of the capital, it has long become the first and must-see point for any tourist. The Beklemishevskaya (Moskvoretskaya) tower was built in 1487-1488 by the Italian architect Mark Fryazin (Marko Ruffo). First, the original name comes from the boyar Beklemishev's courtyard adjacent to the tower; the second, later - from the nearby Moskvoretsky bridge.
