That's how misunderstanding sometimes
Is able to replace friendship with enmity,

How can malice breed in hearts
One and the same in different languages.

The Turks, Persians, Arab and Greek were walking along.
And here's some kind person

Gave a coin to friends
And so the discord between them brewed.

The Persian then said to others: "Let's go

That they say the same thing.

Ignorance in them kindled anger,
Damage to teeth and ribs.

Oh, if I had a standing speaker with them,
He would have reconciled them with one word.

"With your money," he would tell them, "
Buy what you all four need

I'll quadruple your coin
And again I will put peace between you!

I will four, although I will not divide,
Buy everything I want!
