Concarneau - a small town with a population of about 20 thousand people, is one of the attractions in the south of Brittany. A modern seaside town with a historic center overlooking the Glenan Archipelago. A large fishing port, the first in the country to catch tuna. It is also a popular seaside resort known as the 'City of Art and History'. Translated from the Breton language, its name means "protected bay". It is included in the list of "small characteristic towns of Brittany" (Petites Cités de Caractère de Bretagne), and is actually quite cozy and comfortable for a short walk. Concarneau can be roughly divided into two parts: the modern harbor, and the old quarter of Ville-Clos (Ville close, that is, a closed city).
For a long time the city has lived by fishing, mainly by catching tuna. And still in the port early in the morning you can watch the fishermen arrive from the sea, sort the catch and sell it. It is equally interesting to look into the fishing museum with its dioramas, aquarium and old boats.
Rue Vauban runs through the historic Ville-Clos, along which old but restored houses are located. At its very end, restaurants are concentrated, the menu of which is dominated by seafood.
