Herblingen Castle is one of the most mysterious castles in the Swiss German-speaking district of Schaffenhausen. Herblingen was built in the 13th century on the site of an old fortification. It changed owners many times, was mortgaged and fell into the hands of the Austrians. In the last two centuries alone, it has changed more than 25 owners. And now the castle is privately owned.
Despite multiple reconstructions, the castle managed to preserve its medieval architecture. The courtyard and towers were also intact.
Herblingen Castle is a little-known place, so many are unaware of its existence. Nevertheless, this architectural monument is one of the few that can convey the spirit of the Middle Ages and make you return to this place again and again.
