Perspective and optical illusions. Brothers Vittore and Carlo Crivelli, 15th century. Venice
Carlo Crivelli is an Italian artist. Descended from a family of artists. Studied in Venice and Padua. He spent most of his life in Marche, Ascoli Piceno and Dalmatia, combining the main features of the late Gothic and the achievements of Renaissance painting in his work. Masterful in perspective. He possessed an inexhaustible imagination. He was a wonderful colorist - the bright colors of his paintings are harmoniously balanced and do not give the impression of variegation. His works are full of symbols that cannot always be deciphered.
He is the author of many polyptychs for the Marche churches, now mostly scattered and partially preserved.
