Vyborg. Market square

The market square has been taking shape for over five hundred years. The history of the place keeps the memory of terrible executions and military battles, fairs and festivals. The paving of the square points to the outlines of the fortifications of the medieval Stone Town, from which the Round Tower, which took part in the defense of Vyborg from the troops of Ivan the Terrible, has survived. The covered City Market was built by the architect Karl Segerstadt in the style of romantic Northern Art Nouveau
