Not far from Tübingen, a picturesque hill topped with an old castle rises above the Zollern River. The Germans and many tourists call the Hohenzollern Castle “the castle in the clouds”. This castle really amazes with its unnatural beauty. It is located at the very top of the Swabian Alb - the mountain of the same name, which rises above sea level for more than 800 meters. The magnificent castle repeats the contour of the mountain and seems to be an integral part of the landscape - so organically it fits into it.
The magnificent view of the surroundings opening up from above is breathtaking. To get to the castle you will have to climb steep steps. However, at this time you can admire the amazing forest through which the path to the architectural structure lies. You can get to the castle and get acquainted with the history of the Hohenzollern dynasty through the chapel. The tour, which introduces the interior of the castle, lasts only 30 minutes. At the entrance to the castle, you can taste the famous German beer, which will be served in the beer courtyard, surrounded by a surprisingly beautiful garden. Here you will also notice buildings that look much older than the rest. Indeed, they were not destroyed by sieges and wars and were preserved in their original form during the reconstruction of the castle.
The architectural ensemble, which is the last stronghold of the entire royal family, is located just forty miles north of Stuttgard. An amazing forest, mountain, clouds, castle - and that's not all. The interior of the Hohenzollern castle is also striking. It contains not only unique canvases, antique furniture, art objects, relics and souvenirs that belonged to the royal family, but also the Crown of the Prussian Kings, military ammunition of kings and knights stored here. Here you can see Frederick's uniform pierced by a bullet, which he skillfully darned with his own hands. They will also show the snuff-box, dented by the same bullet that saved the king's life. Graceful ceiling paintings, luxurious draperies, antique tapestries, marble columns remind of the past greatness.
