The Kurilian Bobtail is a wild bob-tailed cat that lives in the Kuril Islands. Quite a long time ago, in the Middle Ages, and maybe even earlier, sailors and pioneers left a small number of domestic cats on the islands. They became wild, multiplied and, in conditions of island isolation, over the course of several centuries, completely changed their appearance and habits. Despite the fact that, in essence, the Kurilian Bobtail is just a kind of ordinary cat, you cannot tell at first glance. If you look from the front - it's kind of like a cat, but if you look from the back - a real hare. The same pompom tail, the same long hind legs of a characteristic "hare" shape. And if you look from the side - in front of us is a real lynx, only slightly reduced. The harsh climate of the Kuriles rewarded the bobtails with luxurious thick wool. In the behavior of a bobtail, in addition to the typical feline, there are also some canine traits. If other cats are more attached to the house than to the people who live there, then the Bobtail is characterized by attachment to humans.
He perfectly distinguishes the owner from other people, or rather, he chooses his own master among family members, and having chosen, he can no longer do without him, he gets bored if he is absent for some reason and shows truly puppy delight when he meets. They also have one more purely canine trait - they like to wear "apport". A characteristic feature of bobtails is their craving for water, they are excellent anglers.
And freshening up under the tap on a hot day is the sacred duty of every bobtail. The centuries-old struggle of bobtails with the harsh conditions of the Kuril Islands had a positive effect on their intelligence. This is a very smart cat. In any case, she does not need to explain the same thing ten times, she understands everything perfectly.
