Leonid Baranov's art comes from childhood. The artist is often driven by the main impression of his life.
And for Leonid, this is the village of Bobylevo, which stands among birch forests and swamps outside the town of Shadrinsky in the Kurgan region. There is only one street in the village, at the end of which, near the grove, was the house of his grandmother Maria Yegorovna. In the mornings, like the heroes of his paintings, she broke a loaf of bread into pieces, poured milk or kvass, that's all her breakfast. But for the grandchildren, having set up a sauerkraut in the evening, she baked thin pancakes or "cartoons" shangi. Yes, all this was served on the table with fresh milk and its own honey. After her husband died at the front, she herself learned to manage the apiary.
Everything in these childhood memories is loved, permeated with light and warmth. Maria Yegorovna was never angry with her grandchildren, she did not punish, she forgave everything.
In this grandmother's earthly paradise, Leonid lived until he left for the army. And then another life began.
