The castle is located on a cliff 817 m high in the town of Honau, one of the most beautiful places in the country. It was built in 1840 by Duke William. The inspiration for the construction of the castle in the form in which it is presented today was the novel by William Hauff 'Liechtenstein', which was published in 1826. When Count Urakha, Wilhelm, read the novel, he decided to build a beautiful palace complex, based on the romantic neo-Gothic castle described in detail by Hauf. The castle was built of 'bright stones' (this is how the word 'liechtenstein' is translated) in the fantasy style. The lower chambers of the castle were carved into the rock that supports it. Currently, the castle has a rich collection of historical weapons, armor and other items of great value.
