Stolzenfels Castle is one of the main attractions of the city of Koblenz. It is located opposite the Lahn estuary on the left bank of the Rhine. Since 2002, the palace has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The building was erected in 1242-1259 by order of Archbishop Arnold II of Trier. During the Thirty Years War, the castle was actively used by all the warring parties. In 1689, the palace was destroyed and stood in ruins for about 150 years. The building was restored in 1840. Its appearance was greatly influenced by the English neo-Gothic style. The interior decoration of the palace became very rich - all rooms were decorated with paintings and valuable furniture. The most impressive was the Knights' Hall, which now houses an exhibition of antique armor.
