Burresheim Castle is located on a rocky hill in the town of Nettetal, northwest of Mayen. It is the only castle in the region that has never been destroyed or conquered. It was built in the XII century, and although the successive owners of Burresheim periodically changed something in its appearance, the castle remained harmonious. The interior of the castle has been preserved: paintings and works of art from late Gothic to eclecticism.
Picturesque Bürresheim has often been filmed and filmed in films and commercials. The most "outstanding" role he "played" in the Hollywood adventure film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." In it, Burresheim depicts the fictional castle Brunwald.
