There are three versions about the origin of the name of the breed "Labrador". The first Labradors were exceptionally black, resembling the Labradorite breed in color. Perhaps, in honor of this stone, the Labradors got their name. The second version says that the ancestors of the Labradors were bred on the Labrador Peninsula. And the third is that the Portuguese so nicknamed the Labradors for their amazing performance, calling them labradors (labrador), which translated from Portuguese means "hard worker".
