Pamukkale (tur. Pamukkale, in the lane - "cotton castle") is a natural site in the Denizli province in southwestern Turkey. It includes 17 geothermal springs with water temperatures ranging from 35 to 100 ° C and terraced ponds formed from travertine.
The water flowing down from the slopes of the mountain forms a system of bizarre reservoirs with limestone walls (travertines). Dazzling white terraces (travertine formations) have formed on the mountainside as a result of salt deposition from calcium-saturated springs. These places have been used as a resort area since ancient times.
