Artist Julius von Klever comes from an old German family, the author of many romantic Russian landscapes. The recognizable features of the artist's works include a peculiar knotty manner of drawing tree branches. The artist's expressive landscapes, painted in a realistic manner, fascinate with the untouched beauty of nature and the breath of space. "Winter Sunset in the Spruce Forest" has become very famous in Russia and abroad. A craving for unknown countries, fairy-tale worlds, natural wonders, excessive splendor or excessive anxiety - we find all this in his paintings. In the 1880s, Julius Clover created several fantastic and fairytale paintings. These are the "Forest of Ghosts", "Little Red Riding Hood", which is kept in the Novgorod Historical and Archival Art Museum-Reserve, and "The Forest Tsar". One of his undoubted successes of a later period can be considered the romantic canvas "Night Shore".
