Captain America

Captain America, or Steve Rogers, is a fictional character from the Marvel Comics universe. Steve Rogers was a sickly young man, but thanks to an experimental serum, his physical capabilities were increased to human maximum. He is depicted in a suit painted in the colors of the American flag and with a shield made of indestructible rare metal that can be used as a weapon.

The character was purposefully created and appeared in comics in March 1941. He was often portrayed as fighting the Hitlerite coalition of states. During World War II, it had tremendous popularity, which plummeted after the end of the war, and by the 1950s it was no longer used. He appeared again on the pages of comics in March 1964, when the first comic book about the team of super-heroes The Avengers was released.

In May 2011, Captain America was ranked 6th on IGN's 100 Best Comic Book Characters of All Time.
