Larks arrive very early - as soon as there are thawed patches. They look for food on the ground, they can search for insects and their larvae that have not yet crawled out after wintering. If insects are not found, they will collect last year's plant seeds. But larks begin to nest much later, when enough green vegetation appears on the ground to hide the nest in it. And before the nest and while the female incubates eggs, the lark sings. The singing of a lark can be heard already at the end of March, it has been described in literature many times, but no even the most figurative expressions and the most accurate words are able to convey this music pouring from the skies. Sometimes the lark rises so high (up to 150 meters) that it is not visible, and it seems as if wonderful sounds are pouring from the blue sky along with the rays of the sun. Especially if several larks are singing at once. The lark begins to sing, flying up, and the higher the bird soars, the louder its voice. Decreasing, the lark already sings more abruptly and stops 20 meters from the ground. Then it soars up again, and everything is repeated from the beginning. The male sings. The female sits on the ground at this time. It takes off much less often.
