The song of the nightingale is heard from the bushes, and, barely hearing it, we will understand why so many poets and composers were inspired by this bird, why there are so many legends about the nightingale. His amazing voice is difficult to confuse with someone else. This song, having heard once, cannot be forgotten. And many people imagine this magnificent singer as some kind of fabulous firebird. Indeed, how could this famous, legendary singer look differently? And the nightingale looks very modest. And many, seeing a nightingale, are disappointed. A small bird, slightly larger than a sparrow, with long legs, large dark eyes. Cautious, shy. Only during singing, forgetting about everything, does the nightingale lose its caution. Nightingales arrive from wintering relatively late - in early May. They sing until mid-June. They sing from evening to dawn. And the first two weeks after arrival they sing during the day. Everyone sings well. However, there are also true masters among the nightingales - they have up to 40 knees in their song (usually 10-15). And if such a master appears in some forest, other nightingales quickly master his skills, they also become masters. Such local tunes persist for decades. They exist due to the nesting conservatism of old individuals and the learning ability of the young. To listen to the beautiful melody of nightingales, you need to protect their traditional nesting places, where birds live from year to year, where old individuals return first every spring.
