The birthday of the motorcycle is considered to be August 29, 1885 (the patent for the motorcycle dates back to this day). German engineer Gottlieb Daimler received a patent for a motorcycle, which was first demonstrated in November 1885. The motorcycle was patented as "A horse-drawn carriage with a kerosene engine". German engineers Gottlieb Daimler and his assistant Wilhelm Maybach have built today a "riding machine" - a bicycle with a wooden frame and a belt drive, weighing 50 kg, with a single-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 264 cubic cm, developing a power of 0.5 hp. At the rear wheel on each side there was one small sprung outrigger wheel (all wheels were with iron rims and wooden spokes). Maybach decided to ride first, and the wooden great-grandfather of the motorcycle hit the road at a speed of 12 km / h. Daimler waited a long time for the return, and now, finally, they appeared. Maybach turned off the engine, started the motorcycle back into place and sighed: “This is not a car, Gottlieb, this is a bone crusher. My congratulations!"
