De Haar Castle

Castle De Haar is the largest castle in Holland, located outside Utrecht, half an hour from Amsterdam. De Haar is a real castle with towers, turrets, perimeter moats and suspension bridges. Near the castle there is a romantic chapel and beautiful parks and gardens. There is no doubt that De Haar Castle is one of the most luxurious castles in Europe. Its history dates back to the XIV century, when a certain Van Zeylen Van Nefelt de Haara was the owner of the then stone fortress. Hence the name of the castle. Today, De Haar Castle opens up for tourists from all over the world many interesting things of the family family, a collection of Flemish paintings and family coats of arms. Every year, the surroundings of the castle witness knightly tournaments, and an interesting medieval life comes to life.
