The history of this huge stone fortress begins around the middle of the 11th century, when the Angevin Count Geoffroy II decided to build a new one on the site of an old wooden castle, fortified according to the last word of defensive science of that time. The castle of Angers, erected by the Count, has regularly served the Anjou family for a century and a half. All subsequent owners of the fortress tried to strengthen it even more. So in 1240, the massive walls of the castle with seventeen round towers, which we see today, were completely erected. Currently, the Castle of Angers houses one of the wonders of France - the 144-meter canvas "Apocalypse", 5.5 meters high, consisting of 7 parts, the creation of which took more than five years
