The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in St. Petersburg (Savior on Spilled Blood) is a monument of Russian architecture and monumental decorative art of the late 19th century. In addition to its amazing beauty, the temple is known for its extraordinary history. It was built on the site where March 1, 1881. Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded. This gave the cathedral a second, more frequently used name - "Savior on the Blood".
