The Ponte Vecchio Bridge has several names at once, and they are all really deserved. Firstly, this is the name by which most people know him, Old Bridge, absolutely rightly. After all, this bridge was first built before the birth of Christ. Later, of course, it was rebuilt from wooden to stone, but it still remained standing in the same place where it stood during the initial construction.

The second name of Ponte Vecchio is the Golden Bridge, and this is also no coincidence. Immediately after its construction, tanners, greens and meat traders settled on the bridge. But, since trade there went very briskly, the bridge was chosen by jewelers and, having presented gifts to anyone, the jewelers received the exclusive right to trade only jewelry on the bridge. It is because of this that the Old Bridge got its middle name - it became the Golden Bridge.
