Pierrefonds Castle

At the edge of the forest between Compiegne and Ville-Cotrets, on a low hill by the river, stands the ancient fortified castle of Pierrefonds. This is a large, powerful medieval fortress, the construction of which began in the XIV century. The castle bore the functions of not only a defensive structure, but also a luxurious palace, so it looks just charming: the castle is surrounded by a picturesque area, next to it is a beautiful lake. Pierrefonds and its surroundings have more than once served as a kind for filming.
